Workshops

In over 50 years as a singer and voice teacher, one of the things I enjoyed most was creating workshops that enhanced the singer’s skill and enjoyment thorough disciplines such as yoga, body movement, and awareness and re-direction of thought patterns in performance. Educating both singers and speakers about how the voice works, and the qualities that make up powerful vocal presence resulted in an even broader look at our unique human instrument of communication and expression.

All of these interests culminated in the formation of Vocal Arts Collaborative, a not for profit organization with a vision to explore and develop the human voice as a means of expression and as a tool for building community. Founded in 1996, VAC spent the next ten years offering a wide variety of concerts, workshops and sing-a-longs open to singers of all ages and abilities.

Founding members were singers Carolyn Kingston, Diana Cole and Jan Maier, all of whom brought their unique skills and experience as singers and teachers to the collaborative. Many other teachers and performing artists were brought in to share their talents with a growing community of enthusiastic singers.
