Family News and Photos 2009
This year has been a year of travel and transition. In January Rodger and I returned from three weeks in the Sultanate of Oman, as a guest of our friend Mohammed. Please click here to check out our blog for photos and description of an amazing adventure. In April Rodger and I travelled to Clearwater and Sarasota, Florida where Rodger photographed the wedding of Don and Karen Walker’s son Seth, followed by a visit to Savannah, GA on our way back to their home in the mountains of North Carolina.
As soon as I returned home I got a call from a high school classmate inviting me to a meeting to plan the 50th reunion of my high school class. In June we had a gala weekend of events, including a banquet at the Longwood Cricket Club. Since the reunion many of us in this area have continued partying together in classmates’ homes, at Walden Pond, and over lunch.
On July 28 Mom died at the age of 96, after a long decline with dementia. Although her death was expected, the recent months have been difficult. We all miss her very much. Diana and I were fortunate to have Toby here for the Memorial Service, and the musicians did a wonderful job providing beautiful music. Many of her friends and ours were there to celebrate her amazing life. For Remembering her Life click here
On October 3 we went to the the wedding of my cousin Joan’s daughter, Liana. It rained all day but that didn’t dampen the festivities at all. Following the wedding Diana and Mark, Rodger and I spent two nights at the Greenfield Inn, and a whole day touring the area with our friend Bill Doreski, who lives in Peterborough, NH. He is a teacher and poet who was with Rodger when I met him at Walden Pond in 1970.
Why is it that with every year time seems to to go by faster and faster?
